I wasn't happy after last night's joke of a game. However, neither did I feel the overpowering urge to scream and storm and throw things that a late-season loss to a divisional rival usually brings. When the last out was made, all I felt was a bitter sort of resignation - for all intents and purposes, this team was down and out long ago, and somehow they clung to hope far longer than they had any right to under the circumstances.

Today's the day!

altGood lord, I've missed this man.

This is it. The day we (I) have been waiting for since June 25th. Seven weeks without Dustin Pedroia, while the Red Sox have fought to keep their collective heads above water. While we fans missed the diminutive second baseman and his antics, the Sox at least got to keep him in the dugout, even as certain other injured players chose to stay away.

Despite Boston being 9.0 games back in the AL East and 6.5 out in the Wild Card (behind the White Sox), the season isn't over. I mean it'd still take a miracle for the Sox to make the playoffs, but it doesn't mean we as fans shouldn't be entertained.

Ryan Kalish officially has high expectations to follow for the 2011 season.
