Hey everyone! Well, I am going to be honest about something. I am DREADING running 16 miles all by my lonesome tonight!!!!!!! Here is why:
- I have never run 16 miles before (yeah, like NEVER EVER).
- I am a social person and running for about 3 hours without anyone seems like a small version of hell.
- I had a rough 14 miles last week, and I was not alone for that run (Thank the sweet Lord).
- It is going to get dark while I am running.
Anyhow, you all know that I will b*tch and complain about it, but it needs to be done because someone (points at self) signed herself up for a marathon. Once it is over, I will feel awesome and one step closer to my dream of running a marathon. I will say I feel a little but more prepared than I did last week because I learned some lessons last week that I carried over to this week. Here is last weeks list of lessons learned, I crossed off the ones I put into action today. I am certain 16 miles will also teach me a few things tonight!
-
I need to hydrate better(water and coconut water alllllll day today) -
I need to eat more(NOM NOM NOM – I have been an eating machine all day) -
I need to start off slower(I WILL make sure I do this) -
I need to be mindful that it is humid and hot when it is and run accordingly(Noted- it is August after all) - I am MUCH better doing distance in the morning when I am fresh rather than at night after a long day of work (this cannot be helped, homegirl needs to work. Next week my long run will be a weekend though
) -
I am so grateful for Dan’s friendship
(BOOOOOO, DAN! He isn’t running with me this week. I am no longer grateful for his friendship- kidding..love you, Dan!)
-
I CAN push through(I have been telling myself this all day long, I CAN DO THIS!)
Here is evidence that I have been eating and hydrating all day!

Seriously huge salad for lunch: spring mix, red bell peppers, cucumbers, mushrooms and a whole lot of chickpea salad.
Also, fruit salad: watermelon, grapes, kiwi (yes, I eat the skin), a NuGo Bar and Coconut water for an afternoon snack.

So, I am hoping that those lessons from last week will make for a better run even if I am flying solo. Next time you see me I will be 16 miles stronger, and I love that!
What lessons have you learned lately that you have carried over?
PS- I would like to thank Chalrestown Patch for this lovely article and their support with my Boston MVB nomination! Have you voted today yet? ![]()
