How do you lose 100 pounds? You eat HEALTHY! :)

Did you know that July is National Blueberry Month? A full month is devoted to those little delicious blue antioxidant berries that I love year round but especially when they’re ‘in season’ in New England.  I just found out about the July designation the other day when Boston Globe’s Sunday Magazine featured the Geddes Blueberry Farm in Gilmanton, NH. (The article is definitely worth a read and

Thank You HEALTH Magazine! : )

I was delighted to find a package waiting for me last week when I returned home from work one evening!  Inside was the new book The Carb Lovers Diet: Eat What You Love, Get Slim for Life from Health Magazine’s Editor in Chief, Ellen Kune, and Frances Largeman-Roth, RD, also of Health.  I’d won this a few weeks ago during Health’s first Twitter party about healthy swaps which had been a lot of fun

Easy Summer Dinner: Panko Crusted Chicken & Garden Salad

Every once in awhile I want to change up an old recipe and try out a healthier version.  Sometimes it takes a few attempts to perfect the recipe and sometimes – you nail it on the first try!  The latter was tonight! : ) I cut a skinless 7 oz chicken breast into strips, shaking them in a plastic bag to coat them lightly with whole wheat flour (about 1/2 cup).  Taking them out of the bag, I

My Quad Focused Workout LOVE

My Quad Focused Workout LOVE

Hey friends! I had a great day today and this post is going to be short and sweet but informative, if you like working out and trying out new routines! I have mentioned before, but as far as workouts go…I have really been focusing on splitting up my legs into two different parts. I didn’t train like this for my first show and never really have taken my leg training all that seriously, but now that I have reached one of my goals…I only want to get better from here! So with that said, today was a quad focused leg…

Making it to the mat is always a miracle

Making it to the mat is always a miracle

Bare Bones Yoga:  The other day, one of my private students was a little late for her session. It was pouring rain but I still found myself concerned. When she arrived, she looked frazzled and as we prepared the start of our session, she began to recount for me the day she’d had. It ended with her drive to me in a downpour and her arrival, looking defeated and exhausted, standing in my doorway with a dripping umbrella. We started slow and our focus…

Homemade Dinners Taste Better: A Healthy Chicken, Broccoli & Spinach Alfredo for You

Homemade Dinners Taste Better: A Healthy Chicken, Broccoli & Spinach Alfredo for You

Picture this scenario: You go to a restaurant with high expectations, and immediately order your favorite thing on the menu be it a large spinach salad with feta and chicken or your go-to Chicken Parmesan. Hunger fills your mind, as you fiddle your fork and sip on your water in anticipation for your meal to arrive. Then it comes and, well, it’s just not that good. It’s mediocre at best. There’s either too much sauce, or not enough sauce, or lacking any “zest.” You immediately think to yourself, “I could have made this dish a heck of a lot better…
