Tonight, I was invited to a blogger event at Sam’s to welcome the restaurant’s new chef and new menu. We enjoyed delicious bites and cocktails on the patio while watching the boats pass by on the harbor. It was quite a lovely evening. Sam’s is located on the second floor of the new Louis Boston on the waterfront. It’s just minutes from downtown Boston on Fan Pier overlooking the Boston Harbor. Sam’s offers both indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the water. The views were amazing! There’s not too many places like this in the city! At the event, I enjoyed...

Boston-area food lovers, listen up! You need to make a road trip or a ferry trip up to Truro this summer to experience eat @Adrian’s, the Cape Cod summer home to Boston’s Eat and chef in residence, Will Gilson, formerly of Garden at the Cellar. Adrian’s is light, open, and beachy, with nice little touches like fresh rosemary plants and candles in jars of sand on the tables. There are, of course, Eat stamps everywhere. We decided to listen to the message and went for it. Creative, handcrafted cocktails started off the evening. I went for the Beyond the Garden,...

If you are looking for tasty local, organic, sustainable (and even gluten-free) pizza, Stone Hearth Pizza Co. is the way to go. Stone Hearth has three locations — one in Cambridge, one in Belmont, and one in Needham, with an Allston location on the way — and I was recently invited to the Cambridge location to sample some food and beer and learn more about Stone Hearth. I arrived first (after tackling all the stairs at the Porter T stop) and was immediately greeted by Alex Chamberlain, who does Stone Hearth’s marketing, and chef and general manager Michael Ehlenfeldt. Soon after I...

Last Wednesday, Boston finally got some gorgeous, warm weather, and it was the perfect night to sit out on the terrace at Aragosta Bar + Bistro, one of Boston’s newest waterfront dining spots. Aragosta features contemporary Italian cuisine, including hand-made pastas, and uses New England seafood and local ingredients. I was so excited to check it out during Aragosta’s complimentary blogger party. Photo courtesy of Tiny Urban Kitchen. Thanks, Jen!Michelle, Daisy, me, Athena, Jen After a seemingly never-ending eight hours at work, I met Daisy in the North End, and we strolled over to Fairmont Battery Wharf together in the...

Tis the season for dining out in the North End! I love this neighborhood year-round, but when summer comes, the windows of the restaurants open on to the streets, there are bustling crowds, and of course the weather is warm enough for gelato! The North End offers so many different Italian eateries, making it difficult to choose, but when a bunch of us got together for dinner last week I knew I wanted to try Ristorante Damiano. You see, Executive Chef Damien DiPaola is a fellow UMASS alum and owned the Amherst-area restaurant, Carmelina’s, a place I never got to...

If I must go to work (and believe me, my bank account tells me I must), I figure I need to have some things to look forward to, like lunch. While Kendall Square has been steadily filling up with more and more restaurants, one of my favorite lunch spots has always been the grill at The Blue Room. The grill is only open during the spring and summer, so once the weather gets nice, I constantly check The Blue Room’s website for those magic words: “The grill is open!” This year the grill opened at the beginning of May, and...

Last night, Mal and I enjoyed a birthday celebration for our friend, Kaitlyn, at Foundry on Elm in Davis Square. For months, our friends have raved about this place, so I was really excited to experience it for myself. When we arrived, the bar was hopping! Pretty Things Beer launched their new Field Mouse’s Farewell at Foundry, so there were tons of people crowded around. I thought about trying the new brew, but I went with a Blue Point Toasted Lager instead. I enjoyed this beer— it was medium bodied with sweet, malty flavors— but nothing else really stood out...

Summer nights are one of my favorite times to live in Dorchester. Unlike other neighborhoods I have lived in, there is a real sense of community. Neighbors stop and talk to each other, people know the neighborhood kids, and shop owners and staff are friendly. Add to that the smell of the ocean and a handful of great restaurants with outdoor space, and you have yourself the perfect Friday night. Having not been to Ashmont Grill in a few months, we decided to head there for an early Friday dinner, opting to sit inside because there was still a chill...

On Thursday after work, I headed out for a much-needed ladies’ night with some of my favorite food bloggers. I met Meghan and Michelle at The Franklin Cafe for a pre-dinner cocktail. Not shocking either of my companions, I ordered the St. Germain Cocktail — if there’s St. Germain on a drink menu, chances are I’m getting it. Daisy joined us a few minutes later and also ordered the St. Germain Cocktail. As we idly sipped our cocktails, we filled each other in on the usual subjects — jobs, blogs, significant others — and soon enough it was time to...

Well, I ate vegetarian for the entire week, but Thursday night’s dinner at Coppa pretty much included a week’s worth of meat. And if you are going to go whole hog, recent Chopped winner Jamie Bissonette is the chef to do it with. A bunch of us started talking about having dinner at Coppa at Taste of the Nation, and Elina made it happen. Coppa finally takes reservations, making it a little easier to snag a table in their tiny South End dining room. After a great week of work, on Boston’s nicest day in recent history, I first met...
