Kathy McConnell, aka the Boston Sports Woman, is a mother, wife, rabid sox fan, former athlete, friend, cook, hostess, Pat’s fan, marketer, photographer, and writer. She started her first blog, “My So-called Laid-off Life” in 2009, after having been laid off from her company of ten years. Thinking this was the end, it was just the beginning. During this time she also started Bleacher Butts writing about the trials and tribulations of a fan in the stands. Mostly stories about those in the seats – parents watching their kids’ sports.
She bounced around the interweb for three years, and met so many amazing people along the way. Many of whom she still keeps in touch with as they helped to support her mentally and physically through the laid off years.
The Boston Sports Woman blog took off in high style, featuring over 28 bloggers that populated the site via an aggregator. This was long before ads were popping up all over blogs, and before you knew it, the Boston Sports Woman was starting to make revenue.
Kathy’s writing took a back seat, and she put on her marketing hat helping small businesses with their social media. The web site continued to blossom, however, deep in her heart Kathy knew it wasn’t what she wanted for it. So she pulled the plug.
Nearly seven years passed and holding onto the domain, Kathy finally re-launched the Boston Sports Woman her way. While it isn’t quite there yet, you’ll find old posts from 2009 that bring back fond memories.
2016 marked Kathy’s 50th year on this earth. And this blog is her tribute to all things in her life, as they bring her joy into the next chapters of her life. And a couple of Super Bowls, and more World Series wouldn’t hurt!
