The Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Boston and Boston Sports Woman Honor 5 in Evening Celebration of Boston’s Active Women
On Friday evening, October 1st, Boston Sports Woman and GoGirlGo! Boston held the first annual “Cheers to Confidence” event in celebration of Boston’s active women at Ivy in Downtown Crossing.
Angela Hucles, a retired international soccer player and winner of two Olympic medals, earned her award for the work she’s done in Boston and abroad to expand sports opportunities for children of low-income and poverty status. Beth Hill, an executive assistant at Beth Israel, has devoted her athletic endeavors to raising funds for children’s cancer research following a life-changing encounter with a young patient years ago. Diana Cutaia, the Wheelock Athletic Director, has been a stalwart in advocacy for sport at all levels and for all genders both locally and on the national level. Linda Driscoll, Founder and CEO of Dream Big!, has worked tirelessly to bring new organizations and opportunities to Boston girls and fittingly won her award for her work in executing new initiatives. Lastly, Magic’s most renowned personality, Candy O’Terry, has taken personal tragedy and made a life’s mission out of fighting breast cancer for women of all ages.
Closing out the night GoGirlGo! Boston Director, Whitney Post, thanked the 80 plus in attendance and encouraged the crowd to role model healthy lifestyles that include physical activity, and to support underserved girls in the community by donating to GoGirlGo! Boston.
