Pug-less

Murphy was psyched when he found out that we were taking a trip to the vet this morning. He loves the vet… like, a lot. He even cries (with excitement) at the thought of spending time there. The people, pets, and smells are just so exciting for him.

Well, this morning’s trip to the vet was quite a bit different, however. When we arrived at the vet, Murphy got his fair share of sniffing and socializing, but he didn’t realize that he needed to spend the entire day there for his yearly comprehensive exam.

When Murphy realized that I was leaving him, he was not pleased.

Poor little guy. I hope he’s okay. I already miss him.

Breakfast

After I dropped Murphy off at the vet, I came home and ate breakfast (alone without a pug by my side). I had peanut butter and banana on whole wheat bread with a glass of iced coffee.

Workout

Once I finished breakfast, I headed to a challenging yoga class at Dancing Crow Yoga called Strengthen Your Asana. It was a Power Yoga-type class, but a lot more fun because we got to try some poses that I’ve never done before– like headstands! I always feel like a kid when I try to do them. I never got up into a full headstand, but I got really close! Maybe next time?

After yoga, I spent the next couple of hours shopping. I bought a gift for a friend and then tried on some potential outfits for my book signing next week.

Banana Republic, The Gap, and Ann Taylor Loft were a bust. I suck at dressing myself.

I gave up on shopping and went to Barnes & Noble to pick up Bethenny’s Frankel’s new book: A Place of Yes. Unfortunately, B&N was sold out, but they put a copy on reserve for me once their next shipment comes in.

Of course, I had to look for my book while I was there.

Seeing my book in a store will ever get old.

Lunch

After shopping, I came home to eat lunch. I made a big salad topped with balsamic vinegar and leftover orzo, peas, and chickpeas from the other night.

I satisfied my post-lunch sweet tooth with a special treat: Apple Crisp for One!

To make it, I just chopped up a Granny Smith apple and added it to an oven safe dish. In a separate bowl, I combined two heaping tablespoons of whole wheat flour with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, one tablespoon of softened butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl. I mixed all of the ingredients until they became crumbly and then poured the mixture over the apple pieces. Then, I baked the whole thing for about 18-20 minutes in the oven on 350*F. Delicious!

CNC Book Signing

Just a quick reminder that my book signing is ONE WEEK FROM TODAY (Thursday, May 19th) at 7:00 PM at the Brookline Booksmith in Coolidge Corner—and there will be cookies! I hope you can make it!

For those of you who have asked, this is my ONLY book signing. There won’t be a book tour. Sorry!

I miss Murphy!!! I hope the vet calls soon so I can pick him up. The house is so lonely without him.
