Russell House Tavern

If one of my friends or family members heard someone ask me the question, “What is your favorite thing to order when you go out to dinner?” I’m sure they would immediately answer with, “burger!” I literally love them so very much. As I’ve said before, they are my go-to option that never disappoints (actually, if it’s bad it will/has/does disappoint. But when it’s good, it’s just so darn enjoyable).

Something else I love, (other than burgers) is trying out new restaurants. Last week Colin told me to pick out a restaurant that we could go to to celebrate my birthday. I chose Russell House Tavern in Harvard Square, because ever since I started following them on Twitter combined with hearing more about them from Chef Michael Scelfo at the TV Diner taping I went to, I’ve been wanting to try it out!

I LOVE food. I may not know too much about the technicality of it all, cooking may not be my best talent, and I might not have the most mature palate in town, but what I do know is that I’m damn good at eating delicious food. I knew I would love the food at RHT, because most menu/beer/wine options were right up my alley. I deliberated over the dinner entree options for a couple of days – because almost everything made my stomach rumble with hunger, I didn’t know what I’d end up getting! All in all, I got my hopes up real high, and you know what? They weren’t let down one bit.

So after all my deliberating, guess what I ordererd? Yep folks, I did it. I ordered the grass fed burger and it was thebomb.com. Cheddar cheese, bacon, onions, etc.? Amazing! Before my burger, I started with a beer – a lovely Rapscallion Premier Blonde to be exact (great beer menu). For my appetizer I chose the Salt and Pepper Shrimp which was perfection. Colin doesn’t like shrimp and he was even drooling over it! For dessert I chose the Milk Chocolate Cheesecake with salted caramel drizzle. Need I say more? Our fabulous waitress (whose name I’ve forgotten, which I’m sorry about because she was so accomodating!) even put a candle in it for my birthday. It was such a great night and I couldn’t give this restaurant a higher recommendation. When I find something I love (like this) and after such a positive experience, I literally want to shout it from the rooftops. I guess I’ll have to settle for shouting it from my blog. :)

Check out the deliciousness:

They also have a lovely beer garden, which unfortunately we couldn't enjoy because it was rainy out. But, not to worry – we will be back!

Thank you RHT!
