If you want something big, you’ve gotta think small. We all want something that seems out of reach, but unless it’s as simple as buying a lottery ticket and praying for a million, you’re going to have to break it down into steps.
Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that.
If you want to lose weight, you’re going to need to do it one pound at a time. If you want to save for a house, it’s going to be one dollar at a time. You get the idea.
Celebrate the Little Successes
I need to lose about 20 pounds or so and I’m losing them five pounds at a time. I’m giving myself little gifts for every five pounds dropped — small gifts like books, pedicures, a movie night — to give me something to look forward to and keep me motivated to get there a little sooner.
You Need a Plan
If the idea of reaching a big goal seems daunting then break it down into steps and just focus on the smaller tasks, but you’ll need a plan. I can’t just wish 20 pounds off my body, although I did try. ;-) It’s a combination of working out and nutrition. Be open to seeking help or advice to help you get there and use your family and friends as support.
So set a goal, break it down, and celebrate your mini-successes as they pile up. It’ll be more fun, you’ll feel your confidence growing, and your big goal will get here sooner than you think.
Cheers,
Lisa
