I’ve been writing a lot about bags lately haven’t I? Earlier this week I wrote about what was in my non-diaper diaper bag…and months ago I wrote about how I don’t like diaper bags. Today, I’m writing again about another option for a diaper bag, that’s not technically a diaper bag, but for Daddy.
My husband is a very hands-on father (thank god) and his car is usually stocked with the necessities for the girls…diapers (both sizes), wipes, snacks, extra blankets, etc. The only problem is all the stuff is just in the back of his SUV…not really organized in a bag of any sort. He never wanted one of the daddy style diaper bags, and when needed has used a backpack.
So the other day, I had an appointment to get my hair done (more on that later, I wimped out and didn’t do anything drastic like I wanted to). I was dropping off the baby with him when he was done work, and then heading into Boston. He was then going to pick up our older daughter and head home.
Blame my OCD (self-diagnosed) but even though I knew he had all the supplies he likely needed except for a bottle, I still needed to pack a diaper bag for him. First, I assembled everything I thought he may need:
- 10 diapers for baby
- 3 diapers for toddler
- wipes
- bags to hold the dirty diapers
- bum bum cream (as my toddler calls it)
- outfit change for baby
- bottle (filled with warm-ish water, kept in bottle warmer bag)
- formula
- bib
- burp cloth
Then I needed to find a bag to put it all in. I could have gone with a plastic bag, or a reusable shopping tote, of which we have a million. But no, I wanted something different. I went searching the master bedroom, both my husband’s closet and mine. I finally found the perfect “diaper bag.”
A golf shoe tote bag. It’s small-ish, almost like a men’s toiletry bag, which could be used as well.
It was perfect. It fit all the items I put out that I thought needed to be in there. It wasn’t pick, flowery or girly…it was quite masculine for my husband, as well as easy to carry.
Perfect.
