A Day Like Today

It’s truly amazing when I can drag Annie around and bring her with me to meet friends old and new. We started our day pretty early, heading to church at 9am.  Our energy level from church is always so upbeat when we get out.  It’s like we get re-charged for the week.  Then, we headed straight for Charlestown to catch up with Ali, from Food, Fitness, Fashion, and meet L.A. jewelry designer Marrin Costello.

Ali and I had gotten to know each other pretty well from Twitter, and we picked up her blog, and then we met for two hours for coffee one day this summer.  I’ve been reading Ali’s blog for so long, I feel like I’ve known her for years.  She’s such an amazing writer, honest, to the point, and best of all someone who has your back.  See, I’ve come to this point in my life that the only people in my “circle” are those I know will get my back.  Though my circle is small, it is large in my heart.

But first, I had arranged for a meeting with Marrin Costello.  She happens to be an amazing jewelry designer with relatives here in the East, but a California girl through and through.  She happened to be east this weekend, so we tweeted and decided to get together.  We met at Zume’s, my favorite haunt in Charlestown on a Sunday – coffee, breakfast sandwich and comfy chair was all I needed.

Marrin shared her new line with me right away – and so gorgeous!  They are from her Hammer and Hide line, and I can’t wait to get these in more colors.

Marrin was kind enough to give me a black with silver.  I can’t wait to wear it with different outfits and share photos with you all.  Annie even loved them, and she’s especially picky!  We spent more time getting to know one another, with Annie-ruptions from time to time.  They are always worth it though, as when she has something to say it always gives me a chuckle.  (Annie is a big part of my circle).

What was so great, is Ali came down right when we were talking with Marrin.  Then the three of us got to chatting, and really connected.  I love how Twitter can connect me with so many amazing people!

We realized Ali’s dog Oscar was outside in the cold, so we bundled up our coats, said our good-byes to Marrin and headed to Ali’s “new” house.  She and her husband have been working feverishly to re-do her grandparents home.  I don’t have photos, as you will have to stop by Ali’s blog to check it out for yourself.  But in a nutshell the whole day was so great, capturing what life is all about, and that’s the gift of friendship.

Stay healthy, be fit and have fun!
