Time to Together

The past 24 hours have been all about Mal and me. We’ve been go-go-going for months and months (and months) now, so it was nice to have some downtime together with no ‘real’ plans on the agenda. We went grocery shopping this afternoon, but other than that, we’ve been just hanging out and going with the flow. It’s been really nice.

Dinner

Last night’s dinner was spaghetti squash with Trader Joe’s turkey meatballs, nutritional yeast, and grated Parmigiano-Reggiano. It might sound like a strange mix of ingredients, but I swear it was tasty!

I loved the combo of nutritional yeast + Parmigiano-Reggiano. Cheesy goodness galore!

After dinner, I poured myself a glass wine and sat my butt on the couch for the rest of the night.

Mal and I watched Captain America, which was a pretty lame movie. I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about it, but I just couldn’t get into it. Although, hottie Chris Evans kept my attention at times.

During the movie, I drank a few glasses of wine and snacked on a bunch of cheese. (That handful in the photo below is just one of many!) FYI: I love the bottle of wine that we drank last night, and it only costs $12.99!

Breakfast

For breakfast this morning, I made a special whole wheat wrap with peanut butter, banana slices, cinnamon, brown sugar, and raisins inside. I popped the whole thing in the toaster oven for a few minutes, so everything got all warm and melt-y. Holy deliciousness!

Workout

After breakfast, Mal and I headed to CrossFit. On the agenda for today: “G.I. Jane.”

WOD: “G.I. Jane”

For time:

100 Burpee Pull-ups

Finisher:

Partner Prowler Push 400 meters Total (Sled + 50#’s, Sled)

I thought 100 Burpee Pull-ups would kill me, but they actually weren’t all that bad. The pull-ups were jumping pull-ups, so I used a box to jump and pull myself up to the bar.

The combination of Burpee + Pull-up was tough, but I managed to do 100 unbroken (aka in a row without stopping) in 10:49. I wasn’t the fastest in the class, but I was still proud of myself. I didn’t stop to rest at all!

Lunch

Mal had a serious burger craving this afternoon, so we headed to b.good for lunch. I ordered a burger with sautéed mushrooms, provolone cheese, and arugula. It was pretty outstanding. I love how fresh it tasted. Mal and I also shared an order of sweet potato fries.

Since lunch was right near Whole Foods, Mal and I decided to do our grocery shopping for the week. We hadn’t meal planned yet, so he suggested grabbing a beer at the Summer Shack and meal planning there. I love my husband. He always has the best ideas.

I ordered a Peak Organic, which I swore the bartender said was their seasonal spring brew, but I can’t find the info on the website. Even still, I liked it a lot, especially for a spring beer. Usually, I don’t like them very much.

With beer in hand, we meal planned… at the bar… because we’re cool like that.

Mal and I were planning to go out for dinner tonight, but after eating and drinking out this afternoon, we might just stay in. We shall see.

What’s on your agenda this weekend?

About Carrots n Cake

My name is Tina, I’m 30-years-old, and I live in Boston, Massachusetts with my husband, Mal, and my pug, Murphy. Besides spending time with my family and friends (and, of course, blogging), I love to stay active. My favorite form of exercise is running, and I’ve run more than 20 races, including my first marathon in January 2011. I also enjoy walking, hiking, yoga, and Body Pump. (Ok, I’m a bit obsessed with Body Pump!) I also love baking, beer, dining out, and traveling. My full-time job is blogging for Carrots ‘N’ Cake, but I also juggle a number of part-time gigs. I write another blog called Trading Up Downtown for a nutritional rating company called NuVal. The main focus of the blog is how to save money and select nutritious foods with the help of the NuVal system. Additionally, I write a weekly feature for Health.com as part of their Feel Great Weight program. And, in October 2009, I secured a book deal with Sterling Publishing. My book was published in May 2011 and it’s based off my blog, Carrots ‘N’ Cake.
