This month, Dr. Jean Keamy, talks about the one thing we all see when we look in the mirror. Wouldn’t it be nice to not look so tired all the time?
Feeling and Looking Tired
Now that the holidays are over, do you feel and look tired? Sometimes I look in the mirror and feel like my own eyes look tired or heavy.
Once I approached middle age, I find that I have to be more careful about how I put on my eye makeup because it accentuates the creases on my lids and lines around my eyes.
Perhaps, being an eye surgeon makes me scrutinize my own face for evidence of fatigue or aging. In fact, they eyes are the first thing you notice about a person’s face. If the eyes look tired, it can make someone look older than they may be. A few times it has crossed my mind to have my own upper eyelids lifted to make me look more awake. For now, I am able to use Botox injection to smooth out the wrinkles in my forehead, between my brows, crows feet, and to lift my brow just a little. It makes me look just a little more awake by making my lids look a little less droopy.
For some of my patients, they just have too much excess skin on their upper lids for the Botox injections to work. Upper eyelid lifts called upper eyelid Blephoraplastycan eliminate the excess lid skin and restore the youthful appearance of the eyelids. Sometimes it is combined with Botox injections on the forehead to give a brow lift.
At Keamy Eye & Laser Centre, I perform blepharopasties for both functional and cosmetic reasons.
We offer a free cosmetic consultation to all BSW members. I invite you to check out my photo gallery at www.seemedrkeamy.com or give me a call at 508-836-8733.
